Han Ga-in Shocks Viewers with Personal Confession: “I Ate Bread in a Bathroom During My First Pregnancy”
Veteran actress Han Ga-in left viewers stunned with an unexpected revelation during a recent video on her YouTube channel, “Han Ga-in is Free.” On April 1, while filming the music video for “Princess’ Rules,” the star shared a deeply personal and surprisingly candid story from her first pregnancy.
In the video titled “Han Ga-in’s maternal love shines as she acts in a princess dress she personally dislikes, all for her children”, the crew asked if she’d be okay filming a scene involving eating in a bathroom.
Without missing a beat, Han Ga-in replied, “No problem. I’ve got nothing to hide.”
Then, to the surprise of everyone, she added, “I’ve actually eaten bread on a toilet before.”
The Backstory: Morning Sickness and the Pressure of Fame
Han Ga-in explained that during her first pregnancy, she experienced worsening morning sickness when her stomach was empty, especially while attending English classes. However, as a well-known public figure, she struggled with removing her mask and hat in crowded settings to eat.

“I couldn’t take off my mask or hat to eat in public,” she said. “So I’d sneak into a bathroom stall, sit on the toilet with the lid down, and eat bread secretly.”
The crew jokingly responded, “Good thing you have experience!” prompting Han to laugh and say, “That’s why I’m not grossed out.”
Her honest confession quickly gained attention online, sparking empathy and discussion around the common but often unspoken difficulties faced during pregnancy.
A Story That Resonated With Many
Morning sickness is a common pregnancy symptom, but the degree and coping methods can vary from person to person. Han Ga-in’s story shed light on how managing such symptoms in public settings is often challenging, especially for women with public-facing careers.

Experts often recommend eating small portions frequently, choosing comfort foods, and minimizing stress as ways to reduce morning sickness. Han Ga-in’s unique experience of finding a private space just to cope resonated with many women who have gone through similar struggles.

Han Ga-in married fellow actor Yeon Jung-hoon in 2005. The couple welcomed their first daughter after 11 years of marriage, and a son in 2019, completing their family after a long and patient journey.
Han Ga-in’s refreshingly candid moment not only added humor to the behind-the-scenes footage but also sparked greater understanding and support for expecting mothers. Her story is a heartfelt reminder of the hidden challenges of pregnancy – and the strength it takes to face them.
